Good tent, quick delivery

Got the Fistral tent a bit ago. It arrived two days earlier than the tracking said, which was a nice surprise. Setting it up was pretty straightforward, even for a first-timer with an inflatable tent. Quality feels really good, nice fabric. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Monolith backpack good for travel

I ordered the Monolith backpack for a trip I had planned. The ordering process on their site was smooth enough. Shipping took about a week to get to me in the US, which was fine. The pack itself seems really well made. I used it for a week-long trip and it held up great. All the zippers and compartments were handy. I liked the modular design, I could see myself adding more pouches later.

Cloudbreak tent, decent experience

I bought the Cloudbreak tent for some weekend camping. The website was easy to navigate to find what I needed. Delivery took a little longer than I hoped, about 9 business days, but it did arrive securely packed. The tent itself is pretty impressive. It inflated quickly and felt very sturdy. My only minor issue was that the included pump felt a little flimsy for the price of the tent, but it got the job done. Customer service was responsive when I asked about tracking, so that was good. It's a solid tent, but they could probably upgrade the pump.

Hey, I saw a 'pro program' mentioned somewhere. Is that like for guides or outdoor professionals to get a discount? How do you even apply for that?

M Marcus Torres 2 months ago
Yeah, a lot of outdoor brands have those. Usually, you have to be a certified guide, work in the industry, or be part of certain outdoor organizations. You'd probably find details on their main site under a 'pro' or 'ambassador' link.

I think you need to send in some credentials to prove you're a professional in the outdoor field. It's not just a general discount, it's for people who use the gear for work.

Can I combine a newsletter discount with, say, a Black Friday deal? Or is it usually just one coupon per order?

A Alex 2 months ago
Nah, usually it's one code per order for most stores, including Heimplanet. The Black Friday deals are often automatic though, so you wouldn't need a code for those anyway.

I tried that once and it didn't work. Their system only lets you put in one code. So if there's an automatic sale, you won't be able to stack another discount on top.

Is the Monolith backpack worth the price tag compared to something from, say, Peak Design or Bellroy? It looks cool but that's a lot of dough.

I have both a Monolith and a Peak Design Everyday bag. The Monolith feels a bit more rugged for actual outdoor stuff, while the PD is super slick for city/camera gear. Depends on your main use.

Bellroy is great for sleek everyday carry, but the Monolith is in a different league for durability and modularity. If you need something that can handle more abuse and expand, the Heimplanet is solid. You're paying for bombproof construction.

Does Heimplanet ever do sales? I'm eyeing the Commuter Pack but hoping to snag it for less than full price.

E Emma 2 months ago
They do! Black Friday is usually a big one, and they have seasonal sales sometimes. Also, if you sign up for their newsletter you usually get a first-order discount.

Keep an eye on their 'outlet' section too, sometimes they clear out older stock there at good prices. I got my Dopp Kit for like 30% off that way.

Thinking about getting The Cave but it's a big purchase. What's their return policy like if it's not quite right when I get it?

L Laura Foster 2 months ago
Yeah, returns were easy. Just make sure it's unused and in the original packaging. They're pretty good about it.

They have a standard return window, I think it's 30 days or something. As long as you haven't taken it camping, you should be fine.
